Topcials just hosted their Faded Fortune Game Night at the swanky NuBlue club in New York City, and it was one for the books. To celebrate the ’90s theme, I came dressed in my blue Brooklyn jersey, black cargo pants, and two-toned Nike shoes. I arrived in Alphabet City and stopped in front of a small white building where I could hear Hip-Hop music playing outside. I walked up to the bouncer, displayed my invitation, and received my raffle ticket for the game night.
The New Unscented Faded Serum
After receiving my wristband, I pulled back the black curtains and entered into another world. There was a sea of people from wall to wall dancing to the hits from the DJ. Guests were grabbing complimentary drinks at the bar and making their way to the VIP section. On the front stage, there were eleven silver briefcases lined up for contestants to try their hand at winning some top prizes.
It looked like a scene straight from the game show Deal or No Deal. I walked down the steps over to the bar to grab my Topicals Endless Supply drink, which tasted like a fruity Paloma. Then the lights started to dim, and the DJ announced that it was time to start the games.
The beauty brand was celebrating the launch of its new reformulated unscented Faded Serum. Over the mic, the DJ states some of the prizes to be won. He grabs the tall orange box, shakes it up, and opens the top.
“Get your raffle tickets out, it’s time to win big,” says the MC. Lucky contestants had the chance to win a Louis Vuitton bag, a Topicals brand trip, $1,000 cash, Faded Serums, Slick Salve glosses, Faded eyepatches, and much more. Everyone was pulling out their tickets, wondering if tonight would be their fortunate night. The Jeopardy countdown music begins to play, filling the whole room, and we all look up in anticipation. I think to myself, “Will my number be next?” to get that bag or brand trip.
Deal or No Deal? Faded Edition
The MC calls the first number, and a young lady walks up to grab the first briefcase. Opening it up, she wins the Topicals brand trip. The crowd goes crazy, and looking over to see everyone’s reaction is Topicals Founder, Olamide Olowe. The host calls the next number with the next person coming up, but this time they can steal the briefcase with the brand trip or pick a new case. This Faded Fortune night turned into a game of Russian roulette with contestants stealing briefcases and grabbing new ones to see what else lay ahead.
Finally, all eleven briefcases were opened, and lucky winners took pictures of their prizes. The MC also passed out tons of boxes of the Topicals Faded Serum and Slick Salve gloss. I stashed several in my bag as CEO and Founder, Olamide Olowe, made her way down to the stage.
She grabbed the mic and thanked all of us for coming out and making this such an eventful evening. “I appreciate everyone coming out to celebrate and have fun for our launch,” says Olowe. As people start to head home, I get a moment to speak with Olamide Olowe.
Introducing myself, I let her know how much I enjoyed the event and mentioned me being a Spottie Hottie on the TYB community platform. We also spoke about highlighting more new launches from Topicals and events like the famous Accra trip.
I was able to meet some new faces, take home products, and enjoy a night full of good music, and most of all, good fortune.
