Finding scholarships are SUPER IMPORTANT! Why? because it helps cut down on what you have to pay out of pocket for college. Scholarships are FREE MONEY, you NEVER have to pay it back. Yet, in order to find these lucrative scholarships, you need a website that is a resource and lists every scholarship known to man. I’m going to break down the scholarship website I used to win $15,000 plus dollars and how you can use it to win money also!
The Magical Website
During my time in college, I used JLV College Counseling to assist me in searching for scholarships that I potentially qualified for. On the scholarship tab, I would look through the monthly and state scholarships, making a list of which ones I was going to apply to first.
JLV College Counseling has several categories to choose from such as Minority, Major, and Athletic scholarships. This helps to increase your chances of applying to a wider pool of opportunities and potentially winning some of them.
Scan For Scholarships
When looking for scholarships, it is imperative that you scan the listing to see which ones you qualify for. This technique will help you SAVE TIME in generating your list.
Make a list on Google Docs or Microsoft Word including hyperlinks that will take you straight to the organization’s website. Pick out scholarships that you feel you may have the greatest chances at winning (Ex: Local Scholarships).
Constant Updates to JLV
The best part about using JLV is that the website is constantly being updated. This means that scholarship listings are always current which helps in keeping you ahead of the game. In the example below, you can see the closing date for a few of these scholarships has been extended. So, what does this mean for you?
