Price Check In-Store
Shopping in-store gives you the opportunity to try on each outfit to see the fit and feel of the garment. You can explore your style, and build your wardrobe on a budget. When you find a piece you like, look at the pricing in-store and always compare it to the pricing in-app. You may be surprised to find that those Levi denim jeans you want that usually cost $65 are now on sale for $35. It’s easy and fast to do a price-check in-store and usually takes about a minute. Download and open up the Macy’s app. On the home screen in the top right corner, you will see a little scanner. Click on the scanner and hover your phone over the price tag. Once scanned, you will see all the information on the style, the markdown, and any extra offers available for that piece.
This is truly a powerful tool to use because you get to see how much you save percentage-wise. Buyers are constantly marking down inventory so it’s best to check the app and see what’s on sale. Plus, when you do a price check on an item you’ll see whether you can earn extra Star rewards points which is great for Macy’s Star members.
Earn Macy’s Star Reward Points
If you shop frequently at Macy’s then signing up for The Macy’s Star Rewards program is the best way to earn different perks. As a Bronze member, I’ve enjoyed earning extra points on Star Money Days. When I purchased my Burberry Her perfume Macy’s was offering $20 back in Star Money. I was able to apply that $20 credit toward a future purchase. As a member, when you shop in the app or in-store you earn 1 point for every dollar you spend and once you accumulate 1,000 points you get $10 in Star Money. Also, check the calendar in the Macy’s app to see when you can earn more points on Star Money Bonus Days. When you accumulate Star money you can use it in-store by scanning your membership pass in the app.
Bronze members get different perks like a $10 birthday certificate to use or an extra 15% off coupon on different categories. Also, you can get exclusives like sample perfumes and invitations to in-store events Macy’s hosts. The reward program has four tiers to it, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. As you begin to increase your status you will earn more perks like Star Passes, free shipping on all orders, and more points per purchase. Once you get closer to Silver Star status, start looking into getting a Macy’s credit card. This way you maximize all your benefits and move up to Gold and Platinum tier.
Macy’s Credit Card
A Macy’s credit card provides many benefits such as extra discounts on merchandise and getting more cash back. When you open a card with Macy’s you get an extra 20% off your purchase for the next 2 days. Plus, you get more reward points when you make purchases using their store card. You can apply for a Macy’s credit card and manage your payments through the Macy’s App. This makes it easy to track your balance and look over your statements for each billing cycle. Once you’re approved for the card add it to your wallet in the Macy’s App to make for a quicker checkout in-store.
Price Adjustments
Price adjustments can also save you some money when it comes to purchasing items from Macy’s. For example, you buy a Calvin Klein dress in-store that costs $70. Then a few days later you open the Macy’s App and see that the same dress is now $50. You can call in or chat online with a Macy’s representative about requesting a price adjustment. When it comes to a price difference you will only receive one if it is within 10 days of your purchase.
You can also follow the pricing of an item using the purchases and returns menu in the Macy’s App. In that menu, you can see the item, location, and price. Check back after your purchase to see if that item has gone down in price to get an adjustment.
Creating A Favorites List
Creating a favorites list on the Macy’s app is a great way to plan ahead for your purchases. I use this feature all the time to track the pricing of items that I want. This is great to use because Macy’s will alert you via email when a product on your favorites list is on sale or goes to clearance. I like to add higher ticket items such as perfume, bedding, and house essentials to my list and then wait to purchase them at the best price point. It’s simple to add items to your favorites list. When you open the Macy’s app click on the item you want. Then in the top right-hand corner click the heart icon and the item will be added to your favorites list.
Another great feature is categorizing your lists. For example, I create lists for Mother’s Day and Christmas and add items to each to plan my purchases ahead of time for holidays and special occasions. Plus, you can create style boards of products that you want to purchase and share them with friends and family members. Utilize this tool during busy times like Black Friday and Christmas because it will help you stay on track and not overspend. Plus, you can use it as a vision board, where you can visualize an aesthetic you want and purchase those items to achieve that look.
Rakuten Cash Back On Macy’s Purchases
Rakuten is an amazing program to use to earn cash back on all your Macy’s purchases in-store and online. You can download the Rakuten mobile app and link your Macy’s credit card or debit card to the Macy’s cash back offer. The percentage of cash back you receive can vary from 3% to 12% depending on the time and promotions Rakuten is advertising. Once your card is linked use it in Macy’s to make your purchase. Then within 48 hours, you’ll receive a notification and e-mail saying you received cash back for your recent purchase. If not, check your cash back balance in the Rakuten app to see your credit. I love using this method because you can get cash back on last-act items or merchandise that’s been discounted from Macy’s.
